Extreme Weather Policy

All preventative measures identified by Ride Like Crazy Incorporated (RLC Inc) will be in place prior to event day to minimise the effect of hot/extreme weather for riders in Ride Like Crazy 2012 (RLC 2012).

The decision to amend or cancel the event will be made by the Ride Like Crazy Event Director.

Cancellation

Cancellation of RLC 2012 may occur due to the following:

1. If the Bureau of Meteorology forecasts the temperature to be in excess of 36 degrees Celsius, and those temperatures are expected to be reached through the duration of the event, then the Ride Like Crazy Event Director will consider other weather conditions and determine if the event is to be cancelled or postponed.

2. An assessment of the bushfire warnings in accordance with the Country Fire Service website (see link below) with regard to the fire danger ratings.

3. Any other extreme weather conditions (eg, severe storm, hail, extreme winds etc) that may impact on rider safety.

If cancellation of RLC 2012 is required, advice will be given no later than 1800hrs (6.00pm) the day prior to the event (14 January 2012). Upon cancellation or modification the Ride Like Crazy Event Director will:

Send an SMS message and/or email to all participants and stakeholders

Issue an official press release announcing the cancellation or modification of the event

ensure ABC Radio 891 issues an on air 'media update' along with notification via their website advising of the cancellation or modification

Upload advice of the cancellation or modification on the Ride Like Crazy website
